Design & Simulation Process

During the design phase, leverage 9T Labs' fibrify® software, enabling CAD file import, creation of desired fiber layups, and utilizing FEA tools for efficient part and fiber design.

Building & Printing Process

With the Build Module, we bring your designs to life by depositing continuous fibers and polymer materials in an automated, repeatable manner. Monitor progress remotely for a comprehensive view of relevant production parameters.

Consolidation Process

With the Fusion Module, controlled temperature and pressure are applied to significantly enhance part performance with repeatability and premium surface finish. This process allows you to handle the most challenging load cases, reshaping parts and achieving 3D fiber orientation.

How does 9T Labs' AFT™ manufacture high performing parts with carbon fiber?

9T Labs' Additive Fusion Technology™ (AFT™) follows three simple steps to create high-performance parts using carbon fibers. The initial step involves designing and optimizing your part with the fibrify® software by 9T Labs. The subsequent step facilitates the creation of the part using high-performance carbon composite material through the Build Module. Finally, the Fusion Module consolidates and post-processes the built parts, enabling the creation of unique shapes, improving layer bonding, minimizing voids and internal stresses, and achieving a premium surface finish.

Does 9T Labs produce parts or sell machines?

9T Labs is a tech company that equips original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), part suppliers, universities, and research centers with machines and a software to fully utilize 9T Labs' Additive Fusion Technology™ (AFT™) for flexible, in-house part production and research activity. During the initial phase of scaling up, 9T Labs provides dedicated support by developing and producing parts for its customers to help them adopt the technology.

What makes continuous fibers ideal for manufacturing structural parts?

Composite materials excel in corrosion resistance, ideal for demanding outdoor environments. Thermoplastic parts can be remolded and recycled. High-temperature matrices like PEKK expand applications, replacing metal parts effectively.

How can we recycle parts with 9T Labs technology?

9T Labs' uses carbon composite materials with recyclable thermoplastic resin instead of non-recyclable thermoset materials. After use, these parts can be shredded, and the fibers along with the polymer can be easily reused using 9T Labs' Addivite Fusion Technology™. During consolidation, this shredded material is combined with additively manufactured preforms, creating parts with excellent mechanical properties.
